Kevin Talbot
General Manager

Kevin is the General Manager of Havelock Slipway and oversees the day-to-day operation of the yard. With a background as a certified electrician, Kevin brings practical knowledge and problem-solving experience to the role. He works closely with both staff and customers to manage projects, workflow and the smooth running of the business. Dedicated to providing good service and support to customers, Kevin is known for his approachable nature and pleasant personality.

Jim

Jim Bryant
Proprietor

Jim purchased the Havelock Slipway property in 2003 and, over the following years, has continued improving the facilities into a modern, well-equipped marine repair yard. Jim remains focused on developing the yard to support a wide range of marine repair and refit work.

Roger

Roger
Qualified Boat Builder & Shipwright

Originally from the United Kingdom, Roger completed his shipwright apprenticeship in the UK before building a long and distinguished career in the marine industry. With many years of experience in boat repair and restoration, Roger brings extensive practical knowledge and craftsmanship to the Havelock Slipway team. He is particularly knowledgeable in classic wooden boats and traditional shipwright work, with a strong appreciation for quality workmanship and detail.

Lee

Lee
Qualified Shipwright

Lee is a qualified shipwright who completed his apprenticeship at the prestigious Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron in 1994. Since then, he has worked throughout the boating industry in seven different countries, gaining extensive international marine experience before returning home to New Zealand.

Dave

Dave
Electrical Specialist

Dave is Havelock Slipway’s electrical specialist, and has extensive practical experience across many areas of the marine industry. His background includes aluminium boat building, fabrication, welding, marine electrical systems, diesel engines and drive systems, giving him broad knowledge across a wide range of vessel repairs and maintenance work. Dave is well regarded for his practical problem-solving ability and willingness to assist across many different types of marine projects.

Ian
Marine Painting Specialist

Originally from the United Kingdom, Ian brings decades of painting and finishing experience to Havelock Slipway. His background includes work in the automotive industry as well as involvement with Formula 1 powerboats, giving him a high-level understanding of professional finishing systems and attention to detail.

Axel

Marine Engineer & Fabricator

Axel is our skilled marine engineer and fabricator, involved in a wide range of mechanical and fabrication projects throughout the yard. When he’s not at work, Axel is a competitive sports shooter, avid hunter, and passionate outdoor enthusiast who enjoys making the most of the Marlborough region.

Troy

Troy
Apprentice Boat Builder

Troy is our apprentice boat builder and an enthusiastic member of the team who is developing his skills across a broad range of marine repair and construction work. Outside of work, Troy is a passionate sports fan and a dedicated supporter of the All Blacks.

Adam

Adam
Industrial Coatings & Yard Operations

Adam is a key member of the Havelock Slipway team, specialising in industrial coatings and general yard operations. Before entering the marine industry, Adam worked professionally as a chef, bringing strong attention to detail and discipline to his work. Outside the yard, he is also an accomplished jade carver and musician.

Rangi

Rangi
Pest Control Officer

Rangi is our resident pest control officer and an important member of the team. When not actively supervising yard operations, he can usually be found searching for a warm place to sleep — preferably on a human.
